Upper eyelid surgery

Upper eyelid correction removes excess skin and, if needed, fat tissue for a fresher look and improved field of vision.

Let us guide you

The procedure can reduce a tired appearance and improve the field of vision when excess skin is present on the upper eyelid.

When there is volume loss at the upper orbital rim, lipofilling through augmentation blepharoplasty can also improve the aesthetic result.

When is upper eyelid correction appropriate?

During the consultation, we assess which technique is most suitable for your upper eyelids.

How is upper eyelid correction performed?

After marking the skin, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Through an incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid, excess skin is removed.

If needed, a limited amount of fat is also removed. With augmentation blepharoplasty, microfat lipofilling can correct an A-deformity (volume loss at the orbital rim, often due to fat loss). The wound is closed subcutaneously with fine sutures.

Marking

The skin is carefully marked beforehand.

Natural crease

The incision is placed in the natural crease of the upper eyelid.

Frequently asked questions about upper eyelid correction

Where is the scar?

The incision is placed in the natural crease of the upper eyelid, so the scar is usually barely visible after healing.

Can I drive immediately?

Driving yourself is not recommended, as your vision may be somewhat blurred immediately after the procedure.

How do I cool the eyelids?

At home, rest for a few hours with your head slightly elevated. Apply a clean compress to the eyelids with an ice pack on top.

When are the sutures removed?

Sutures and Steri-Strips can be removed after about one week.

When can I use makeup?

From two weeks after surgery, makeup may be used again if desired.
