Before you are put to sleep, the surgeon marks important reference points. The correct nipple position is determined and the tissue to be removed is measured. Breast reduction is performed using the superior pedicle or superomedial pedicle technique with a short inverted T scar, aiming for three-dimensional shaping of the breast.

Breast reduction takes about 2 hours under general anesthesia.
You can leave the hospital on the day of the procedure. Paracetamol is usually sufficient for any discomfort during the first 2 days. A support dressing stays in place until the first follow-up appointment, 2 to 3 days later. After that, you wear a support bra for about six weeks.
Avoid heavy physical exertion for the first 6 weeks. You can return to work after 7 to 10 days. Scars need about a year to settle; scar treatment is started.
