How is the procedure performed?
Through a small incision at the lower edge of the nipple, gland tissue behind the nipple is removed. This tissue is sent for histopathological examination.
Additional liposuction around this area is often needed to improve the contour. Physiological fluid with adrenaline is injected, after which fat tissue is removed with a suction cannula.

Before the procedure

The procedure
The procedure is performed as day surgery and takes 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Recovery at home
An elastic compression dressing is applied. You wear the elastic chest band as much as possible for 6 weeks to reduce swelling.

Back to your routine
Paracetamol is usually sufficient for the first few days. Return to work may be after 1 day for a smaller procedure, or after 1 to 2 weeks for a more extensive one.

Why is endocrine assessment needed?
Because gland tissue can sometimes grow suddenly due to hormonal changes. That is why this is checked in advance.
Why is an ultrasound requested?
Pre-operative ultrasound helps assess the breast enlargement more accurately beforehand.
Is the removed tissue examined?
Yes. The gland tissue removed from behind the nipple is sent for histopathological examination.
Is liposuction always needed?
