How is lower eyelid correction performed?
Correction is performed using the 5-step transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty. First, the incision is made on the inner side of the eyelid.
Fat compartments are assessed and redistributed or reduced, the tear trough is softened through fat transposition, excess skin can be removed with a skin pinch, and support of the lower eyelid is reinforced.

Before the procedure

The procedure
The lower eyelids are corrected in five consecutive steps.

Recovery at home
You will be limited in normal social activities for about one week. Swelling and bruising usually disappear within that week.

Follow-up
After about one week, sutures can be removed. Steri-Strips provide local pressure for two weeks. Eye drops are prescribed for the first week.
Frequently asked questions about lower eyelid correction
Are there visible scars?
With an incision on the inner side of the eyelid only, there are no external scars. With a skin pinch, there is a fine scar just below the lashes that fades after several months.
What is the purpose of fat transposition?
Fat transposition softens the tear trough and helps blend the transition from eyelid to cheek.
Can I drive immediately?
Driving yourself is not recommended, as your vision may be somewhat blurred immediately after the procedure.
Will I receive eye drops?
Eye drops are prescribed for the first week after the procedure.
When are sutures removed?
Sutures can be removed after about one week.
