How does the treatment proceed?
History and clinical examination often already point to carpal tunnel syndrome. EMG confirms the diagnosis.
Through a small incision in the palm, the fibrous band is divided and the nerve is released.
The wound is closed with a few sutures.

The procedure
The operation takes approximately 20 minutes under local anesthesia.

A bulky dressing around the hand is replaced after about 3 days with a smaller dressing. Keep the hand elevated.

Mobilization
You may move your fingers and hand immediately after the procedure.

Sutures
Sutures are removed after 10 to 14 days. Tingling and strength improve only later because nerve recovery is slow.
